He’s Alive!  He’s Alive!!

That is the shout of joy and praise that fills the Christian heart today.

Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ is alive!

Isaiah, Chapter 53 is one of the places that we see the prophecy of the Lord Jesus and His being the Sacrificial Lamb of God. It tells us, very accurately, of the condition of the heart of those who took Him to the cross. Those who despised and rejected Him – us! In our fallen, sinfulness any of us could have been in the crowd in Pontius Pilots’ court crying out “crucify Him!”

In verse 6, Isaiah writes, “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” This describes all mankind. We, before receiving the grace and mercy of life from God (Eph 2:4-11), were by nature children of wrath (Eph 2:3), children of the devil (1 John 3:10), or children of Satan, and we lived only to satisfy ourselves (and our master). Before God applied the sacrificial blood of the Lord Jesus Christ to our account we are slaves of sin (Rom 6:17). But now, having believed in our heart that the Lord Jesus Christ died, was buried and rose again on the third day and confessed Him as our Lord and Savior (Rom 10:9), we have been bought by His blood and are slaves of righteousness (Rom 6:18). Jesus Christ has become our new Master. (more…)

I met C. J. Mahaney at the 2006 Together for the Gospel Conference in Louisville and was instantly aware of his humility and great love of the Lord Jesus Christ. He has authored several books in his easy writing style and I highly recommend each of them. Today I would recommend to you two books that capture the central focus of his ministry and his life – The Cross Centered Life and Living the Cross Centered Life.

Avail yourself to the words of this instrument of God and allow your life to be enriched as C. J. shares with you his idea of “keeping the main thing, the main thing.”

If we are to do all for His glory (1 Cor 10:31)….

How do you plan to do this tonight?

I appreciate your stopping by my blog, to read over my ramblings and endeavors to shed light upon the essence of God’s word.

I believe that is the role of Pastors everywhere as brought out in Nehemiah 8:8, to help the people to understand God’s word. To that end, I endeavor to continue this next year, as the Lord allows, to answer questions, encourage biblical studies and pray that God’s word will continue to feed and direct His children as the saints go (not go to, but as they go about living their daily lives), not to evangelize the world, but to make disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.

May the Lord so fill you with Himself that you are as a light on a hill and that your light will shine before men to the glory of God!

As we celebrate the birth of Christ this season, and His being our Peace with God, please  join me in asking Him to help us to grow in Him, to desire His word more, to be continually confessing and repenting of our sinfulness and to help us to have a humble, servants heart that is receptive to His will and that He would be please to glory Himself in using us.

Let Christ be the center of your celebration today.

Merry Christmas, Cg

Today’s daily verse is the marvelous, magnificent and monumental announcement of the Messiah’s arrival. The announcement of God’s Peace to His people.

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” (Luke 2:11-14)

Shepherds and Angels

Announcement of Jesus birth came to the social outcast of the day, the shepherds.

As a working class they were the least thought of in Jewish society. They were under a Rabbancial ban, because they were unable to perform all the necessary ceremonial cleansing nor attend the Temple at required times. They were also thought less of because some were associated with having difficulty in identifying “thine” and “mine” when it came to tending flocks. As in any group of people, it only takes a few to mar the entire group. They were looked down upon so much that they were not even allowed to bring testimony in court. Certainly, as in so many societies the work they performed was needed and all of the society enjoyed the fruit of their labor, but they held a very low position in society. (more…)
